Our Story

The Backyard Bar Stage & Grill was conceptualized, created, and cultivated by 4 Texans with diverse backgrounds, but a common appreciation for music, food, and fun. The partnership originated in a small, relatively upscale, concept bar (Cinema Lounge) in 2013. A great small to midsize venue, it failed to fill the entertainment void that existed in central Texas. So, the Four Horsemen (Brian Brown, Chris Cox, Russell Clay, and Chris Braziel) packed up the operation and headed downtown, in the fall of 2015. Acquiring the property and opening a 1000-capacity live music, multi-bar, restaurant, and family-friendly courtyard venue (a mere month before the Magnolia Silos and Fixer-Upper phenomena exploded), the guys swung open the gates and hoped for the best. Central Texas (and beyond) responded, paving the way for such icons as Snoop Dogg, Steve Wariner, Eddie Money, Nelly, and newcomers Koe Wetzel, Parker McCollum, and Bailey Zimmerman among many others to perform to sold-out crowds. Our "Nothing Fancy, But Something Special" moniker says it all. Great food (including signature burgers, the best catfish in town, and our secret recipe Cluckers), a hometown, hole-in-the-wall, dive bar, indoor vibe, and our sprawling 12,000 sq ft courtyard offer something for every age and interest.
